Day 87 05.10.15
I woke up having had the worst sleep of the whole trip. I had been awake every hour, being cold, being pressed down by the blankets and therefore having terrible muscle aches, and additionally to that feeling extremely bloated. It was the worst. I hardly could walk and breakfast wasn’t the most fun experience either. We had pancakes, which made up for a lot, since always eating yoghurt and granola, or bread and jam, or just scrambled eggs takes a toll on you.
We headed back to the pier and the boat as we were heading to a little island on lake Titicaca, which we were going to hike up to, have lunch and head back down and back to Puno. I was not feeling up to it but was hoping that a little bit of exercise would do the trick.
All along the side of the bay there were little animals going about their business. Like this little piglet or for example yesterday a couple of our group took the family cow to the water and lead her out to the reeds for a little swim. Just what you do with you domestic pets.

The view of the island was stunning from the boat, and we really enjoyed the view of the island.

Walking up was tough though. I was still feeling terrible and walking up a steep mountainside was very tough. (Which is also why I didn’t take many photos – thanks again Mo for letting me steal some from you)…

We reached the top, which was their town square, the girls got to witness some knitting men, while I sat in the shade indulging in my pain.

Afterwards we headed for lunch, but I didn’t feel like eating much so I just sat there and headed back to the boat by myself for a bit of sleep.

Shortly after we headed back to Puno, which took us a couple of hours. After a moment back in the hotel, a little nap and shower, and some pain medication we headed out to the bakery we had visited before. I had some stir-fry rice (Arroz Chaufa) and ate as much as I could, which wasn’t much, while everyone around me was enjoying cake. The life of an ill person…

After that we headed straight back to bed, and were ready to have a better nights sleep in order to be ready for the bus ride to Cusco the next day.
