Day 33 12.08.15
We had a quick breakfast at the hotel (yes, porridge and a banana again), and threw our luggage onto the bus. Sleeping on the bus was quite hard as the road was very bumpy.
We drove on and stopped at a petrol station for a bathroom break. I’m telling you this, because we did this in San Pedro la Sula, the most dangerous city of 2012. (And you guys were worried about Mexico :))

We drove on to the ferry and already could see the rough sea. The “vomit comet” as some guidebooks called it, definitely didn’t disappoint. We were glad we had taking a pill to relax our stomachs, but as soon as we hit the rough waters, people were falling like flies and all the crew was doing now, was to hand out vomit bags, distributing paper towels and collecting and throwing out full bags. It was a hard journey, but somehow we all managed to get through it without the vomiting part.

We arrived as the night had already fallen and headed out to a supermarket to buy some food for breakfast and some for dinner as we had been told we would be having a kitchenette. Our guide couldn’t believe his eyes when he realised how much food we were buying and that all that food would fit into the fridges. We reassured him that we would be cooking all of it at night and that it was for 10 people, he surely crossed his fingers that he could get us the kitchenette.

It all worked out fine and I cooked up some pasta with a tomato, vegetable sauce topped with chorizo. We also had a nice little cucumber, tomato and onion salad to top it off. It felt great being able to cook again after so much time just eating out at restaurants and not really having home cooked meals.
We all sat together on our balcony, gathering together all the balcony tables and chairs, eating away, laughing and just having a great time together, enjoying each others company and a home / hotel cooked meal. The rum was flowing and in order to not disturb the other guests we moved our gathering to the dock, where the conversations kept on going for quite a while. We even jumped into the water, swimming and splashing about. It was just a great way to end a very long travel day and we couldn’t wait to see what the next day had in store on this beautiful island.
