We had breakfast outside, looking onto the water with a bit of a breeze going for us. I ordered French toast with maple syrup, which was great. I hadn’t had French toast in a while so I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We then went to the office of our snorkelling trip and got equipped with flippers and snorkelling gear. We hopped on the nearby sailboat – a large ship that would transport us from one snorkelling spot to the next. And off we went.

Oh boy, it was so worth it. At the first stop we got acquainted with our gear, and got to see the first corals and the fish that swam around it. Large fish and some smaller swarms followed us around and it was a great way to get used to the snorkelling.

The second stop was great too. Here we saw several stingrays, and following our group guides we snorkelled around completely in awe of the wildlife around us. Here we saw big swarms of fish and beautiful corals.

The third stop was the highlight! We got to see several sharks, even larger stingrays and turtles!!!!!!!! First of all the sharks would swarm towards our boat thinking that they would be fed as other snorkelling companies tend to do. They left quickly after they realised that there was nothing to eat, but it was quite a sight. We then went back to following our group leader and we saw some majestic rays, flying through the water majestically. Then we saw them. The turtles.

They were just grazing along the ocean floor and didn’t mind us snorkelers observing every second of it. Unfortunately another group of tourists came along then and someone tried to pick the tortoise up. Not cool. It rightfully swam away and away from us. We got to see another turtle a few meters off, but again unfortunately so did the other group and that turtle too swam away. We were left with an incredible image of these old creatures roaming the sea.

We headed back full sail and really really sunburnt. Yes. When snorkelling one should wear a t-shirt. Thanks dad for that comment, but I am aiming for a great tan. On this last leg of our journey we enjoyed some “unlimited” rum punch, which got everyone in a very entertained mood, and the music coming through the speakers did its part.

We quickly showered and headed back to the split again to enjoy the evening and the sunset.

There already many others had gathered to do the same, and some were playing a game of tossing sandbags into goals. I am glad I took a photo of this, seeing as I am hopeless at explaining the process. I joined the team of a Belizean, and together we won 2 games – one against some English tourists, and one against one of my fellow travellers and a friend of my teammate.

We had a blast and again a lot of rum was flowing. So we headed out to dinner at Jolly Rancher, enjoying a great whole lobster (or actually just half a lobster, as I shared it with my lovely travel companion).

The night was young and so I walked around the island a bit enjoying the moonshine.
