TULUM 2

Day 16 26.07.15

We left the hotel at 05:35 in the morning and headed to the beach to catch the sunrise. It was still dark but already the sky was turning lighter and lighter.

We found a nice spot where we could sit on a boat parked on the beach. At around 06:20 the sun rose and it was such a lovely sight! We took loads of photos, and just reminisced about the trip. What a great way to end it. I think I will try and do that when I leave as well.

We went to eat a big breakfast – some eggs benedict and waffles with maple syrup and a big juice for me. ( I don’t know where all that hunger came from, but it felt good to fill my belly with some food – ok a lot of food :) ) who knows what I will get for lunch…

We went back to the hotel and I met with my new group to take the public bus to Tulum. We boarded and were lucky to all find seats, as some Mexicans had to stand since they came later and no seats were left over.

We arrived in Tulum, went straight to our hotel and there we stayed straight at the pool. Well I did at least, while the others opted to go check out the ruins of Tulum – a fort on the beach. Meanwhile we were chilling in the sun and enjoying the occasional drink from the bar.

Lunch was phenomenal. I got a Megatacillo or something like that. Basically, a large size of tortilla, filled with seafood with a great Caribbean style tomato sauce. Exactly what I needed.

Dinner was lovely too as we met up with another Intrepid Tour who are doing the same tour as we are just backwards. (Starting in Antigua, and finishing off in Playa de la Carmen).

We decided to all have a barbeque together and enjoy the evening. The food was absolutely delicious and the company was splendid.

I am eager to see what will be coming along tomorrow as we will be visiting a sinkhole close by.
